I have many favorite artists, but my absolute favorite is the woodblock print artist Kiyoshi Saito. He left behind many works, but I especially love the Aizu series.
When I lived in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, I visited his art museum many times. It’s not exactly a convenient location for tourists, but I highly recommend visiting it. The scenery along the way, including Inawashiro and Aizu, is incredibly beautiful, truly representing the quintessential Japanese landscape.
